Your Friends at Calontir

Words and Music: Vortemir Fire-tender (The Murrell Family)
A.S. XXXI (September 29, 1996)

The Fyrdmen are all stacked up just like cordwood on the floor
The Huscarls are all blubbering, they can't drink anymore
The Peers have gone off singing, and the Royals have disappeared
It's just another revel with your friends at Calontir

The Jacks are never empty, and we still have lots of beer
It's just another revel from your friends at Calontir

The fighting was exquisite and the feast compared to none
The Merchants are all happy, heck the Autocrat had fun
It must have been the best event we've seen so far this year
But it's nothing next to revels with your friends at Calontir

The map was drawn to scale, but we still barely made it here
But we've finally found the revels with our friends at Calontir

The floor space was all taken, so we moved the thing outside
You should have seen the neighbors' faces when we all arrived
They're frantically concealing all they have that they hold dear
But it's nothing but a revel with your friends at Calontir

They all seem so confused, but we just greet them with good cheer
It's just another revel with our friends at Calontir

The coals are torched, the kegs are breached, the Bards are on the way
We seek to sooth the strains that we had all received that day
And then as one we raise our cups to those that can't be here
And thus begins the revels with your friends at Calontir

A wet chemise and blue jeans, now you'd only see that here
It's just another revel with your friends at Calontir

The Constable arrives to tell us all to keep it down
We wave at all the Deputies, and offer them a round
To our delight there are a few who say they'll come next year
They'd love to join the revels with their friends at Calontir

The host has been arrested, we must bail them out I fear
It's just another revel with your friends at Calontir

The Fyrdmen are all stacked up just like cordwood on the floor
The Huscarls are all blubbering, they can't drink anymore
The Peers have gone off singing, and the Royals have disappeared
It's just another revel with your friends at Calontir

And if we're lucky we can do it all again next year
I love attending revels with my friends at Calontir
