Modar's Dream

Words and Music: Vortemir Fire-tender and Dis Embaryuska
A.S. XXXII (December 16, 1997)

Watch for the children, beware what you do
For they can learn nothing, but by watching you
We are their heroes, oh when will you see
That we can determine the people they'll be

Where is our future? Oh, where lies the dream?
The hearts of our young men and women lay slumbering
Watch for it, wait for it, stand by and see
We must harbor the embers, eternally

Some say "No children. They just don't belong."
Is ay then tell me, how do we go on?
A child is a vessel to sail seas of time
They carry our legacies, and leave us behind

Where is our future? Oh, where lies the dream?
The hearts of our young men and women lay slumbering
Watch for it, wait for it, stand by and see
We must harbor the embers, eternally

Hold their dreams firmly, protect while you can
For soon they'll be leaving as woman and man
Guide them and shield them as best you can do
And if they fall, help them. We made mistakes too

Where is our future? Oh, where lies the dream?
The hearts of our young men and women lay slumbering
Watch for it, wait for it, stand by and see
We must harbor the embers, eternally

Teach them their places, and show them the way
For sooner or later, they'll lead us someday
Teach them of courtesy, honor, and fun
And then gently remind them, as their children run

Where is our future? Oh, where lies the dream?
The hearts of our young men and women lay slumbering
Watch for it, wait for it, stand by and see
We must harbor the embers, eternally
